Bowen Technique

Bowen

Bowen technique is unique amongst Total Therapy Group's treatment range.

Using brief, rolling movements over the skin and muscles, interspersed with short rest breaks, the therapy stimulates the body to adjust and realign itself.

Bowen Technique is therefore ideally suited to treating muscle and joint pain, spasms and restricted movement.

As no undressing is required, this therapy can easily be carried out in both public and private areas.

BACKGROUND

Taking it's name from its creator; Tom Bowen - this technique's unique rolling-type moves stimulate the muscles and soft tissue within the body.

The rolling movements create a physiological response over the lines of fascia connecting the areas being worked on, which in turn is picked up on by the brain.

In order to allow this communication process to take place unhindered, the treatment environment involves no music being played (unlike many other therapies which utilise music to help promote relaxation) and most uniquely the therapist leaves the recipient for several minutes between each set of movements, removing any distractions from the clients' environment.

THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS

These movements are very gentle, pain free and prompt the body to heal from injuries and long-standing complaints by realigning and dealing with these imbalances itself. Bowen is thought of by many practitioners as a way to draw the brains attention toward avenues of imbalance and pain.
